Addison Paige #19 Sheltering Sky

I never knew what the term "sheltering sky" meant but
in my world it means a low ceiling of heavy dark clouds that contain a lot of
rain but they are not threatening a downpour just yet. Since the clouds are so
low they feel like the ceiling in a building and since they block out the sun
they are actually sheltering the nearby world from the hot sun. This is a
phenomenon that I don't experience much living among the tall trees of North
Carolina so this painting in part reminds me of my time under a big sky in
Texas.
